We missed a terrific exhibition of 19th- and 20th-century Spanish postcards in 2016 and 2017 at the University of Murcha and the “Ramón Alonso Luzzy” Cultural Center in Cartagena, Spain. Happily for us, the cards exhibited there have been made available on a website titled “Illustrated Postcards and Education (Spain, 19th-20th Centuries.” Not that everything is in English — in fact, nothing is in English. We’re in luck that the website has Google Translate on hand, though, which makes it possible to understand the deep and significant history of postcards from Spain.

We like collectors and dealers who take the time to make YouTube videos to show their cards, whether from their collections or for sale. Here’s a 10-minute video of some early and not-so-early automobile racing cards. Kevin Hughes (The Postcard Guy) does a nice job of displaying close to two dozen cards that range from early Japanese real photo midget racing cars though printed Vanderbilt Cup races and into Indianapolis Speedway cards. We particularly like the card of the driver on one of the Japanese cards with his mom beside him (Happy Mother’s Day to you too).
