Postcard collectors are very conscious that the cards we cherish reflect the people and events, as well as the standards and ethics of their time. Human Zoos is a scholarly examination of some postcards from an era that we hope will never be again. Postcard history can be controversial too.

Like so many other routines, attendance at Sunday school has changed dynamically in the last five decades. The postcards that encourage attendance at Sunday school are highly collectible and although some still show girls skipping rope or boys shooting marbles the message is the same: you will be a better person if you go to Sunday School.
