    Sammy’s Bowery Follies was not the first “dive bar” nor did they invent the idea of “slumming” but for a stretch of time through the 1940s to the 1960s, Sammy’s was New York’s best example of both.

There simply is no escape from Mother Nature. Recent events prove it. In 1987, the English town of Sevenoaks suffered a hurricane that blew over six of their seven oaks. One modern postcard shows the only survivor. Older cards have different views.
