    Selling tobacco with a symbol (the tobacco-store indian statue) or a slogan (“I’d rather fight than switch”) has a long and storied history. But “I’d rather fight than switch” wasn’t original with the old Taryton brand. Here’s the story.

Vacuum cleaners on postcards are rare. Since sales of sweepers and cleaners were conducted mostly in the customer’s home, perhaps the sales staff preferred the door-to-door approach rather than waiting for the lady-of-the-house to respond to a postcard.
