Bible Stories on Postcards

The earliest Bibles were illustrated, so when postcards came along, it was a natural extension. Such cards have been produced in every language and in every country where the Bible is read. Here are cards from two American series, Pilgrim Press and G-A Novelty of New York, which show the diversity of the stories illustrated.

It’s been called the most important art exhibition held in the United States. The 1913 Armory Art show sponsored by the Association of American Painters and Sculptors changed the minds of Americans interested in modern art. The doors were open 12 hours a day for a month and postcards led a flood of art lovers to the hall.
