America’s Civil War poets and song writers worked hard to chronical their times. From the Battle at Fort Sumter to Lincoln’s assassination the literature of the time recorded the heroics, patriotism, and loyalty of every American. Sheridan’s Ride by T. Buchanan Read is a fine example. The illustrations from an unknown illustrator help tell the story.
