Mount Rushmore is one of America’s most well known and admired memorials. In spite of its popularity the story is not well known. This bit of American History is well recorded in Bob Toal’s postcard collection.

This bio-sketch of Edward Herbener is typical of dozens, maybe hundreds of local photographers who documented their town’s places of interest. History would be incomplete without their work products. Real photos and printed cards of “Landscape, Buildings, Animals, etc.,,” as he promised in his ads have been forever collectible.
